Me and the Bass!
I can never really remember why I started to play the Bass Guitar. I can just remember going on holiday in Easter (before my 15 birthday) and getting spending money. I never bought anything but I wanted something really cool.
My brother always wanted to start a band a just suggested "Why don't you get a Guitar or why not a Bass Guitar?" And then that thought just stuck in my head.
My brother was all ready into drums at the time but when he suggested I get a Guitar or Bass, he then decided to get himself a Guitar. In the first place I never really wanted a Guitar. For some reason I really wanted a Bass Guitar.
We would always talk about starting up a band together, and I should learn an instrument as well. Obviously the Bass was stuck in my head so I started looking for one I could afford.
I then got my first Bass guitar but I didn't start playing it right away. I only started practicing properly at the very start of the summer holidays (2011). I practice so hard because I wanted to be so good. The first song I learnt was Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold and from there on progressed quite quickly. Unfortunately forgetting or having no interest in slapping and 'finger style' at the time.
Once Secondary school finished I then learnt a bit of everything and was practicing like crazy.
I now am quite good at my playing. I can now do Slapping/Popping pretty well and can play fairly well with my fingers. I've been getting so many different books to help teach myself but mainly I just kept learning more and more songs!
The bass guitar to me is such a fun instrument to play, especially when it comes to slapping/popping. Secondly bass guitarists are always needed!
